Plastic Film Recycling Campaign Closed Early Due To Overwhelming Response :)
Dear Roselle,
Thank you for helping Green Roselle bring attention to plastic pollution while diverting waste from landfills!
Our campaign has ended early due to a massive response. Reaching our goal of upcycling 500 lbs (approx. 40,000 bags) happened in 1/4 of the time that we were allotted. Thank you to everyone who made the effort to collect and drop-off plastic film to our four in-town locations and an extra special thanks to all the site hosts and volunteers that helped manage this larger-than-expected initiative!
It's incredible that we launched this initiative only mere weeks ago and that we had such an immediate outpouring from residents and organizations. We are so proud of the community engagement in our town and people's desire to recycle right here in Roselle. However, due to the high volume of plastic + limited manpower & drop-off space, 71% of our volunteers voted to end the campaign at 500 lbs and focus our volunteers and efforts on plastic film eco-education.
Being in this space is really eye-opening. You see the wonderful, beautiful goodness of people but also the challenging areas of opportunity we have as a human collective. So, one of the things we're going to attempt to tackle in our bag-filled village is plastic film *reduction*. Over the next few weeks, we'll be sharing environmentally-friendly products & behaviors we can all adopt to reduce plastic pollution in our green community!
One more round of thanks to the Roselle Park District, Roselle Public Library District, and LakePark EarthClub for hosting this easy-to-start, environmentally-friendly campaign for our local residents! Together, we made a difference!
Where can I recycle my plastic film now?
You can still recycle plastic film at many local retailers including, but not limited to: Jewel-Osco, Kohl's, Mariano's, Target, and Walmart.
Additionally, you can start your own NexTrex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge to earn an upcycled bench for your organization in a 6-month campaign!

Where should our public, upcycled bench go?
This was a community effort and deserves community input!
As promised, we've created a poll to get local suggestions on where our public bench should go in Roselle.
